Adam Nicholls comes from a farming background and has been involved with farming all of his life, up until recently when he took the job of Supported Housing Officer at Carrick District Council, which is part of community development in the Carrick District. Within Carrick District Council, Adam also works as an operator in the main control centre and is a member of the Crisis Management Team along with holding a position on the committee for the management team for supported housing.
Adam first started appearing on stage with Cornwall federation of Young Farmers or to be more specific Threemilestone YFC. He has done cabaret acts, and in 2000 the act in which he appeared in won all the Cornish rounds including the final at the Hall for Cornwall. They then became part of the Cornwall team comprising of 9 other acts. The Cornish team won all area championships including the National final at Blackpool. Adam has also appeared in pantomime, playing the dame for the young farmers where local clubs join forces and make a team. For the pantomime they won the Cornish championships and the south west area championships and came third in the southern area.
Adam has held many offices within the Young Farmers right up to Chairman. In his year of Chairmanship they raised £740 for the RNLI and £460 for Children In Need.
Since 2000, Adam has been a member of the Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust (RAOST), where he has done such productions as Me & My Girl, Jesus Christ Superstar & The Sound of Music. Recently Adam had a singing part in Thank You for the Music 2 at the Regal Theatre in Redruth and is playing the role of Frank Butler in RAOST's next production of Annie Get Your Gun. Last year, Adam played a lead role in the south west premiere of Titanic - the musical which was performed at the Hall for Cornwall in June 2005 and the Minack Theatre in August 2005.
Adam has an active involvement in set constructing. He has helped to build and set-up the set for the likes of the Jesus Christ Superstar, Thank you for the Music 1 & 2, Me & My Girl, the Sound of Music and also the sets for the pantomimes and cabarets he has participated in.
Adam has been involved in the movies, appearing in films such as Cold & Dark starring Luke Goss to the most recent being some extra work in the Hollywood blockbuster King Arthur. In this film he played the part of an archer alongside actress Keira Knightley and actor Clive Owen.
Adam is the Chairman of RAOST Singers, which have sung at many venues such as local churches to gala concerts held at a variety of venues such as the Hall for Cornwall in Truro and the Princess Pavillions in Falmouth. The RAOST Singers are looking to go to Ireland/France in 2007 and America in 2009.
He has an active involvement in charity fund raising where he has cycled to Blackpool twice for the likes of Meneirs Scoiety and the NSPCC raising in excess of £1500. In 2001 he ran the New York Marathon raising £4000 for Mencap.
Adam is looking forward to being involved with the
production of Camellia MC in 2008.
